The light has gone on in this little guy! In the last couple of weeks he has added "eyes", "teeth", "wow", "whoa", "dog" and sometimes "thank-you" to his vocabulary. He'll point to his nose, eyes, teeth, head, belly button and feet when you ask. He signs "please" regularly and will sometimes sign "more", "all done", "frog", "dog" and "thank-you". He nods his head yes and no in response to questions and follows most simple directions, is much more interested in books and toys beyond his cars and is more interactive with everyone around him.
We had his first speech therapy session today and I learned a lot about ways I can interact with him to encourage communication. We'll be meeting with this speech therapist (she's the one through Early Childhood Intervention) at least every other week and will probably be adding a private speech therapist as well if ECI can't fit him in more often than that. He has a long way to go to catch up, but I now feel confident he will where as little as a month ago I wasn't so sure. Whatever the barrier was to him comprehending and communicating, seems to be disappearing! Yea, Noah! Keep it up, little man!
